Havyrn Terms of Service
DRAFT — not legal advice. This is a working draft written from what the app actually does today. Sections marked [LAWYER REVIEW] need a real lawyer before this goes live. Everywhere you see [LEGAL OPERATOR NAME — pending LLC formation], that's a placeholder for the entity that will legally operate Havyrn once it's formed.
Welcome to Havyrn. These Terms are a plain-English agreement between you and Havyrn, operated by [LEGAL OPERATOR NAME — pending LLC formation] ("Havyrn," "we," "us"). By creating an account, you agree to them.
1. Who can use Havyrn
You must be 18 or older to use Havyrn. We ask for your birthdate when you sign up and we check it — if you're under 18, we won't create the account. We don't do any further age verification beyond what you tell us.
Havyrn is currently offered only to people in the United States.
2. What Havyrn is — and isn't
Havyrn connects you with people nearby who are working toward similar things, so you can do them together. It's built around mutual interest: you only connect with someone if you both say yes.
Havyrn is not:
- A dating app. If someone sends you unwanted romantic attention, that's reportable like anything else.
- A social feed built for likes, follower counts, or public rankings.
- A substitute for professional help. See the next section.
3. Havyrn is not professional help
Havyrn is for being honest about your goals and where you're stuck with them — not for health, addiction, or mental health support. We don't ask about those things, and the app isn't designed around them. Connecting with another person on Havyrn is never a substitute for professional care.
Havyrn doesn't monitor what you write for signs of crisis. If you're in danger or need immediate help, please contact emergency services or a crisis line directly, such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (US).
4. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.
5. Your content
You own what you write and post. By posting it, you give us the permission we need to store it, show it to the right people (like a match or a connection), and process it the way described in our AI Processing Notice — including sending some of it to outside AI providers to tag it, score it, moderate it, or summarize it. See that notice for the specifics.
6. How we expect you to behave
- No harassment, hate, threats, or unwanted romantic pursuit.
- No impersonation, no spam, no scraping or misusing other people's information.
- Be honest. Havyrn's matching works better when you are, and it's part of the whole idea.
7. Reporting and enforcement
You can report or block another user at any time. [TRUE ONLY AFTER SLICE 4] Every report is reviewed by a real person, not just an algorithm. Depending on what we find, we can warn you, restrict your account, or ban it.
Blocking someone closes your conversation with them and stops you from being matched with each other again. We keep a record that the block happened even if it's later lifted.
8. Ending your account
[TRUE ONLY AFTER SLICE 3] You can delete your account at any time from Settings. For 30 days afterward, logging back in restores it, in case you change your mind. After that 30-day window, we permanently remove most of your account data. A few things don't go away:
- Your conversations disappear for the people you've talked to. We keep a copy of messages you sent — not visible to anyone in the app — so we can review any reports involving them.
- Reports, warnings, and moderation records involving your account are kept indefinitely, even after deletion, so that people who were sanctioned can't simply start over with a clean slate.
See our Privacy Policy for the full picture of what's kept, what's removed, and for how long.
9. Changes to these Terms
[TRUE ONLY AFTER RE-CONSENT ENFORCEMENT — see OPEN_ITEMS #79] If we materially change these Terms, we'll ask you to review and accept the new version before you can keep using Havyrn. Each version is dated, and we keep a record of which version you agreed to and when.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability [LAWYER REVIEW]
Placeholder — standard "as-is," no-warranty, and liability-limitation language belongs here. Not written from the code; needs counsel.
11. Governing law [LAWYER REVIEW — confirm phrasing]
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. (Governing law itself was decided; the exact legal phrasing and any dispute-resolution/arbitration clause still need counsel.)
